SFI: You have dual nationality Scottish and Italian. Because of this wonderful combination, of culture, do you think it gives you the edge in your creative flair and styling?
Paolo:
Haha, I think that they are both very different cultures, so I do see fashion and hair from 2 angles. On the Scottish side there is a more modern, younger side to hair and fashion. With elements coming from London and New York.
Whereas Italy take inspiration from Italy! They are much more classic in their approach and "less is more" is very evident throughout. They have a belief there that a blow dry, should last from Frid till Tues including a weekend at the beach! Therefore hair styling is an art and not a job.
TCM: Any words of wisdom or tips for anyone looking to get into the industry?

Paolo: Be prepared to work hard. If you want to succeed, you will have to sacrifice. The times when you are just about to leave the salon and that last minute client walks in, you can't say no. Be prepared to never get out of the salon at the time you think you will! It will all be worth it though in the end. I believe you will get out this industry exactly what you put into it!
TCM: So far you have had a varied career, what would be your dream stylist job to showcase your talents?

Paolo: I would like to work for the big fashion houses, styling hair for their latest advertising campaign. I think that would be an interesting challenge for me.
TCM: Thanks for the blether Paolo I hope you enjoyed your virtual coffee and cake! Looking forward to seeing and hearing what the future brings for you. Wishing you lots of luck in your career!!
Paolo: Thank you, yeah it was good chatting. Now I'm going for real cake!
